X-Mas Love

I don’t know how well some of you may know Michaela and I know this is a bit (really) late in coming, but I want to make this Christmas really special for Michaela and I need your help to do it. Please read on to find out how you can really help Michaela come a big step closer to achieving her dreams this holiday season.
Michaela and I have been living together for over 6 months now (and together for almost a year!). I have had the honor of witnessing her growth, her brilliant mind, and her all-out, rock-out, brave and beautiful heart that she shares with the world on a regular basis. Let me just state for the record that regardless of my relationship to this woman, Michaela O’Malley is goin’ BIG PLACES in this world. She’s at a place in her life where she is VERY ready to take her life path into her own hands, having been through a bit of institutional education, a bit of traveling, and a whole lot of self discovery.
Almost a year ago, while Michaela was traveling in Mexico, almost all her belongings were stolen, and she was forced to sell her laptop computer in order to generate the funds she needed to get herself back on her feet. Now, a year later, having chosen to explore a much more domestic lifestyle and a path that leads to career success, she badly needs this important tool replaced in her life.
For the past 6 months we have been sharing a laptop. Being two people who are both doing independent consulting/design work, and keeping ourselves afloat on a self empolyed basis, this whole sharing one computer thing isn’t working very well. Neither of us are as productive as we could be if we could be working side by side on our own machines.
Here’s what I propose:
I have invited 365 of you to this event page. If 70 of you give $10 each, on top of $300 of Christmas money that Michaela has received from her relatives, then she will be able to buy a new laptop and take a HUGE step toward her long term (and short term) goals.
How it will work:
Michaela and I have talked about this idea, but she doesn’t know about me posting this event yet. (I’m sneaking into her account to send this… don’t worry I totally respect her privacy and won’t do anything more than post this event… and maybe change her status to something silly, and then tell her to change her password and not save it this time.) Of course she’s going to find out when she logs in tomorrow (Christmas eve) anyway.

UPDATE!!!
As of today 1/13/10 I have received $1033 in donations toward my new computer!! I found a macbook pro still under warranty (with option to extend) for $1000 and I’m buying it on friday, as soon as mercury goes direct! I’ll be putting the rest toward the extended warranty or toward the other awesome micro-financing causes that are happening right now… (like this one: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=415684010642&ref=ts) Also – I will post pictures as soon as I get the computer!!
I want to sincerely thank everyone who helped me get to this goal. About a year ago i barely knew what it was to have strong community – now i not only have one, i feel strongly supported and loved by that community and this means more to me than anything… Y’all make my heart feel all squishy!
